Motte & Bailey Bookshop Page Our first day in our current space was 1 August. We started painting right away. We recovered from that, and had an electrician come in, pull old conduit, and add exit signs. Thereafter, we spent quite some time building, sanding, staining, and sealing our own bookshelves. After dealing with the city over signage on historical buildings and occupation permits, the basic grunge work was done. We then had our friends in for a shelving party, and we shelved nearly 350 boxes of books. Food as bribery was more efective than we thought. We opened on 15 October 2000. Our grand opening party was on 4 November, and we had even more folks in for that. Since then, we've bought and sold thousands of books, made great discoveries and great new friends, and hopefully added to the intellectual and social life of our neighborhood here in the Kerrytown district. Below are
some images of the store from preparation to today. We'll add more as
we change. All in all it has been a great deal of fun and continues to
be so as more people know of us and come by. Feel free to drop by too.
