Includes fold out map, photograph of page from the diary, and index. The diary of Angell from Providence. Originally commissioned a major in 1775, Angell was made Lieutenant Colonel of the regiment in 1777, and then Colonal on the death of its commander. Angell was at Valley Forge and took pains to write back to Rhode Island concernign the needs of his men then and later. He participated part in the battles of Monmouth and Springfield, eventually resigning his commission then the First & Second regiments were combined. He ended his life as a farmer, cooper, and tavern owner in 1832.
