The book discusses the careers of each ship.

The first hand story of the grain race between the Beatrice and the Herzogin Cecilie in 1927/28 by Villiers, who was onboard the Cecilie. They raced from Port Lincoln in Queensland to Falmouth, the Cecilie winning with a 96 day time.
