Lippincott, 1890. First edition. softcover. Octavo (standard size). 1st appearance. Good, wear and chipping at edges of covers, a bit of separation at front cover.
Pages a bit tanned. Many ads at front and rear of issue. Covers protected with mylar, with a very good leather and cloth slipcase. Fearing the story might be indecent, the Lippincott editor deleted some 500 words. Still, the story caused quite a stir with the public, and all copies of this issue were removed from railway bookstalls in the UK. An uncensored version was not published until 2011. An attractive copy of this important and influential 19th century gothic novel, the only one Wilde wrote. Good in very good slipcase. Item #18471
