The Specht Journal : a Military Journal of the Burgoyne Campaign
Specht, Johann Friedrich. translated by Helga Doblin. Mary C. Lynn editor. military botes by Donald M. Londahl-Smidt

Westport, CT Greenwood Press 1995 First edition Octavo (standard size). Slight wear to edges and corners of boards. Head and heel of spine bumped. Small dark spot to back board. 178 p. w/ frontis, endnotes, appendix, tables and charts, table of names, and name and general indices. A translation of this very detailed journal of a upper level officer in the regiment of Johann Specht, a Braunschweiger (Brunswicker) soldier in service to the British crown, under von Riedesel. These troops were often called Hessians, but the designation is inaccurate. It is thought by the editor that the author of the journal is Specht's adjutant, Lt. Anton Adolph Heinrich Du Roi. The journal covers Feb. 1776 - Nov. 1777. Very good Hardcover (Item ID: 16776)
