THe Children of Lir is an Irish legend of 4 children of a king changed into swans by the king's new, jealous wife. Spirin is a master of detailed illustration in the Eastern European tradition, a Russian emigre to the US, and a winner of numerous awards, including five gold medals from the Society of Illustrators and having 4 works he illustrated named Best Illustrated Book of the Year by the NY Times.
