Wear and rubbing to the edges of the boards with bumping to the head and heel of the spines of both volumes. Both volumes also have some light bumping to the corners of the panels. Both volumes have staining/spotting/fading on the spines and edges of the covers. Volume II is especially spotted on the spine and panels. Pages are a bit browned on edges and a little stiff but not brittle. The tissue paper over the frontispiece in volume I has been torn out and the frontispice has some damage to it. 2032 pages total with illustrations, few notes, and index. A massive and detailed history of the life and career of George Washington from country gentleman serving during the French and Indian War to president of the United States.
