Thin octavo in slipcase (standard size). #249 of three hundred and fifty copies. SIGNED by Hettner and Hofmannsthal at rear limitation page. Slipcase is scuffed and has wear to edges and corners, with label on front darkened with age. Spine of book has wear as well, but intricate gilt designs and text still visible. Boards a bit scuffed, with Hettner illustration on front board. Top of textblock gilt. Front and rear hinges show some wear. A few pages have darkening at edges or at hinge. Foxing on numerous page. Handwritten gift card from 1934 laid in. 125 p. w/ 25 iillustrations by Hettner. Translated from the limitation page "Florindo by Hugo von Hofmannsthal with 25 lithographs by Otto Hettner printed in the year one thousand nine hundred twenty-three, as the twenty-fifth Avalun printing in a single edition of three hundred and fifty numbered copies and signed by hand by the poet and the artist. The printing of the text was carried out by Jacob Hegner in Hellerau near Dresden, the stone carvings on the hand press of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden by Alfred Ehrhardt. Each specimen was bound by hand in the workshop of P.A. Demeter in Hellerau near Dresden. Numbers 1 to 50 printed with a folder containing all the drawings in stone by the artist individually hand-signed as special prints. In addition, the numbers 1 to 25 each contain a hand drawing of the lithograph designs." Good in slipcase. Item #12567
