A detailed study of over 390 dedicatory inscriptions, often fragmentary. The book updates earlier studies and presents an excelent discussion of both the fragements and the archeological work associated with them.
Raubitschek was an outstanding Austrian classical archaeology scholar who came to the United States after Austria was annexed to Germany by the Nazi regime. He worked at Yale, Princeton and Stanford. Jeffrey was an epigrapher educated in Cambridge England, well known and respected for her efforts in Greek inscriptions.
