Light wear and rubbing to edges of boards of both books with bumping to heads and heels of spines and on corners of covers. Both volumes are also scuffed on covers with browning along spines. Volume I has a dark stain on fore-edge of front cover while volume II has a white mark on fore-edge of front cover. Name of previous owner written on front free endpapers of both books. Light browning and foxing to fore-edges of pages. Some pencil marks in margins of text. Volume I has 337 pages with illustrations and footnotes. Volume II has 326 pages with illustrations, foldout map, footnotes, and comprehensive index of both volumes. The memoir of Herbert Henry Asquith (d. 1928) dealing with his life and career, a good source for British politics during World War I. Good. Item #8842
